Stress Connection

Stress is more than worry, fear or anxiety

…it’s anything that causes your adrenal glands to produce more cortisol and adrenaline

  • Exercise is a form of stress!  The more intense the workout the more cortisol and adrenaline you produce
  • Aches and pain (back pain, joint pain, twisted ankles, etc) trigger inflammation – which triggers cortisol, your body’s natural anti-inflammatory.
  • Being overweight is stressful. Carry a 20 or 40 pound backpack for a full day. Tell me that isn’t stressful!
  • Being on the go, rushing around, not enough time activates your adrenals.
  • Skipping meals cause your blood sugar to drop.  This simulates ‘starvation’ and activates your adrenals.
  • Heartburn, indigestion, Reflux, etc…Inflame your tummy and trigger cortisol to reduce the inflammation.

How many times a day are you squeezing your adrenal glands to pump out more cortisol and adrenaline?

How long can you keep squeezing your adrenals before they become depleted and exhausted, which is termed Adrenal Fatigue!

Adrenal Fatigue is probably the most over-looked malady by mainstream medicine, which could explain why so many people are struggling with chronic, degenerative health problems.

Stress activates your sympathetic system, called the ‘fight or flight’ modethe fightr or flight mode, stressed out and fatigued, cortisol overload and weight gain, dr len lopez

  • We are not designed to be in the ‘fight or flight’ mode 24/7
  • We should spend more time in the Parasympathetic ‘Resting Digesting’ mode.

Cortisol and adrenaline activate your heart, metabolism, breathing, muscloskeletal and nervous system….while at the same time slow down your digestive, elimination and reproductive systems.  How do you have time to eat, sleep, having sex or making a baby, when you are always on the run?

This is why stress and adrenal fatigue can be at the root of so many health challenges.

Stress does more then take you out of your ‘fat-burning’ zone

Stress interferes, disrupts, increases, decreases the production of other hormones and chemical brain messengers, it…

  • Interferes with the production of your thyroid hormones
  • Lowers your serotonin (feel good brain messenger) levels
  • Stimulates your heart to beat faster and arteries to constrict
  • Weakens your immune system making your susceptible to allergies, infections, etc
  • Erodes your intestinal lining causing digestive problems
  • Interferes with the release of your growth hormones – difficult to add lean muscle
  • Stimulates your mind and makes it difficult to fall asleep
  • Disrupts liver function and hampers your ability to detoxify
  • …and so much more

Are you nourishing and supporting your adrenal glands?

cortisol, stress, adrenal fatigue, weight gain

Take the Stress Test to see if stress could be the underlying cause to your problems

The Adrenal Stress Profile determines if your adrenal glands are over-working
